Emiko Ota is a Japanese singer, drummer and percussionist based in France, whose work moves across rock, experimental music, voice, rhythm and performance.
After the first experiments initiated by Scott Batty and Aurélien Nicolas, Emiko Ota joined the art of skinlessness in mid-2000 and actively took part in shaping the band as an explosive drummer and singer.
Between mid-2000 and 2003, her playing gave TAOS its physical force, its broken cabaret pulse and much of the unstable theatrical energy that made the trio so singular on stage.
She returned to the band during its final period, between 2009 and the last concert given at Espace B in Paris in April 2010, bringing back the same radical mixture of precision, violence, humour and vocal presence.
Beyond the art of skinlessness, Emiko Ota has pursued a wide musical path as singer, drummer and percussionist, moving between underground scenes, Japanese music projects, collaborations and live performance.
